How to turn ideas and dreams into goals and then turn a goal into reality.

Wednesday, 10 June 2009 08:55 by George Thomas

Did you know that Torque is being used in many different want by people in many different fields. At it's core, Torque is a time tracking application that is used by people to track their time spent on projects. It's the easiest and fastest way to achieve a goal. Here's a scenario: First you set a goal, any goal. You name that goal a project. Then, to achieve that goal, you create a series of steps. In the Torque application, steps are tasks. It's really that simple and easy to achieve your goals. It's powerful stuff, to be able to take a thought, make it concrete by writing it down as a goal and then achieve that goal through a series of tasks.

Torque helps you achieve even the biggest dreams. Big goals might require an entire team of people to achieve them. That's where Torque really proves its mettle. Torque is a multi user system, which means you can have an entire group of people (a team), helping by taking tasks that are part of the goal. The Torque system keeps track of who did what and who's currently doing what. The Torque system even has a built in messaging system that allows team memebers to exchange messages. This messaging system proves to be much better than email because messages relating to the task at hand are all in one convenient place.

So even if it's just one person or a team of people, Torque can help you by turning your dreams and ideas into reality.

Things To Do list

Monday, 25 May 2009 10:19 by George Thomas

Many people have a things to do (TTD) list, for many different things. You may have a list for food shopping or a list of  list of places to see while on vacation, etc. These TTD lists come in handy in a hectic world. Lists help us reduce stress, knowing that all we have to do is look at our list and everything is there.

Successful businesses also have lists, however these lists are not scribbled on a loose leaf paper. These lists come in the form of automated software. That's where Torque comes in. Torque helps teams be allowing them to automate their business lists of things that must be done. Torque goes the extra mile by including a built in messaging system. Communication among team members is crucial to success, and Troque helps you with communicating with the team.

In Torque, once a task is complete, it is removed from the list. This is similar to crossing out an item from your grocery list. The great thing about Torque is that the task is not forgotten; you can go back and see how much time was spent on the task, you can look at the comments relating to the task. This way you can make business decicions to will improve the productivity of team members.

Cloud Computing vs. Client/Server applications

Monday, 27 April 2009 03:26 by George Thomas

Perhaps the biggest example of where Enterprise applications are heading is SalesForce.com SalesForce.com is a web application that allows businesses to help their customers and become productive. One thing that SalesForce.com does is Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and it does it very well. SalesForce prices start at $9 to $65 per month per user. That is a big savings over the traditional client/server method. If you insist on using a client/server application to use as your CRM platform, consider what that involves. To implement a client/server CRM application, let's use Sage SalesLogix as an example. Sage would require that you buy a Server and install the SalesLogix server portion, then you would have to install the SalesLogix client portion on every workstaion that wanted to access SalesLogix. Let's not forget the training that everybody has to endure just to make sense out of this setup. You will also need to backup your server regularly, install update to your server and on and on. Why on earth would some choose the client/server method instead of a web application. The main reason is because until recently, that was the only choice.

But today we have many alternatives to choose from when it comes to CRM. And more applications are being converted from the client/server model to the Cloud. SalesForce.com is a great example of how the Cloud is helping businesses avoid the costly client/server model.

Goals and the Plans to reach those Goals

Saturday, 28 March 2009 06:21 by George Thomas
Many businesses have goals. A high percentage of those goals do not get achieved. Why is it that a high percentage of goals never get completed. The reason is this - a goal without a plan is simply a wish. So how does Torque help you with creating a plan? A plan is simply a series of tasks that if done correctly, help you to achieve a goal. Torque allows you to create tasks. Once you create a task, anyone on your team can see the task. If a team member is qualified to complete a task, that team member may take that task. Every time a team member completes a task, the goal is closer to being completed. It's that simple and straight forward.

How do businesses measure time?

Monday, 16 February 2009 15:51 by George Thomas
All things being equal, what makes one team reach their goal while another team falls behind? Is it management or is it the tools they use. The tools that businesses use have a lot to do with their overall performance. Most businesses implement some kind of financial accounting system. That's an obvious requirement. Businesses need to measure the money that's coming in and the money that's being spent. Then they make business decisions based on their financial situation.

What most businesses may not realize is that they also need to know how their time is spent. Time tracking systems allow businesses to measure how their employee’s time is spent. You can only control what you can measure. Time tracking systems allow you to measure how your time is spent and more. A good time tracking system must allow team members to communicate and provide meaningful reports. Time tracking systems are what will differentiate successful businesses from a mediocre business.

Collaboration through Communication

Sunday, 25 January 2009 11:33 by Ken Kobayashi
As many people know, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications are the backbone of business applications. A few examples of ERP applications are Oracle Financials and SAP Human Resources. These applications offer a lot of functionality, but Collaboration is the main benefit. The benefits of software that enables Collaboration are communication and sharing resources. Torque has collaboration built into its core functionality. User A is able to see what User B is working on. And User B can see the file that User A uploaded. Teams can now tackle large, enterprise projects and communicate effectively. Communication among team members is the key to success.
