Let's not forget the training that everybody has to endure just to make sense out of this setup. You will also need to backup your server regularly, install update to your server and on and on. Why on earth would some choose the client/server method instead of a web application. The main reason is because until recently, that was the only choice.

But today we have many alternatives to choose from when it comes to CRM. And more applications are being converted from the client/server model to the Cloud. SalesForce.com is a great example of how the Cloud is helping businesses avoid the costly client/server model.
